Fourteen year old Yasmine Chaffer from Basingstoke was the resounding winner of the UK Riders Dressage Qualifier at Hall Place Equestrian Centre. Yasmine riding her own mare ‘Clarabelle’ gained 10% more marks than her closest rival. This competant pair were also 2nd in the hotly contested Combined Training class later in the day. Yasmine is trained by David Sheerin who she says is ‘a fantastic instructor’ and Yasmine puts in a huge amount of time and dedication to her sport, being rewarded this year by winning her section at the Pony Club Southern Area Championships. The 29th Annual Show at Hall Place Equestrian Centre on Bank Holiday Monday was yet again a resounding success. All 38 classes had impressive entries and judges, Amanda Stewart, Sue Reeves, Debbie Bonner, Jane Gaut and Angela Wood had a mammoth task to select their champions. The judges unanimously decided on the Supreme Championship going to Holly Ross riding her beautifully produced part bred arab Sir Galahad. This combination were foot perfect all day. Hall Place EC 13th September 2009
Alison Merrett from Newbury took 1st place in the two dressage only classes. This competition for Alison and her horse Bolero B was truly rewarding as the real purpose of the outing was an attempt to calm down this excitable horse. Alison trains with Carol Wagstaff who has helped her a lot with flatwork. This horses’ true vocation is eventing and Alison is hoping to progress to BE Novice level in 2010.
Top honours for Combined Training went to Ros Gibbs riding her own stunning Welsh Section D Cob, Tynyrheol Sir Lancelot. Ros is a Welsh Cob enthusiast and not only owns Lance’s full brother ‘Luke’ but has also bred their half sister. Ros keeps her horses in a beautiful private yard near Mapledurham where she trains with Annette Allport and is an active member of the Chiltern Riding Club. Their talents are limitless as Ros successfully competes in all disciplines including driving.

SUPREME STYLE
Hall Place 31st August 2009
Hall Place were delighted to accept the kind sponsorship of many businesses and individuals especially McGonnell and Gillatt Veterinary Practice who sponsored beautiful rosettes and the sash for the Supreme Champion. Competitors were overwhelmed with the generosity of the show with all winners receiving challenge trophies, many presented by the sponsors to add to the occasion.
Another very welcome gift to the show was made by Tony Gee of Coltsmoor Show Jumps who donated a craftsman made show jump. Hall Place generously decided to donate this to the Tilehurst Riding for the Disabled Group and they raised a huge sum of money for their very deserving group.
Planning has already begun for the show in 2010 which will be the 30th consecutive year Hall Place have held this event. Hailey Wilder, the Centre Manager and Show Director said ‘The Annual Show 2010 will be very special and we are hoping the weather will be as kind as this year! Last year the championship took place at dusk with the moon being evident in the Championship pictures! We made changes to the schedule this year and our Champion was crowned by 6pm. The Show Jumping took place in the rubbertrack arena which proved to be popular and will be in this arena again for the 30th anniversary show!’
Emma Sumber, Show Secretary, and Kevin Royle from RPE Events have taken the Hall Place Show to a new level by producing the shows own website, which now has all results and a ‘Photo Gallery’ of 2009 winners – www.hallplaceannualshow.com. Hall Place have 6 further events scheduled for the Autumn and Winter, culminating in the ever popular Christmas Show on 20th December.

Two winning competitors from Berkshire broke down on the way to the popular 'Eventers Challenge' at Hall Place Equestrian Centre.
Thirteen year old Molly McNickle from Bradfield Southend was late arriving for her class as the horsebox had broken down on setting off - just the thing for pre-competition nerves! Molly riding her new horse Drokonan Rites has high aspirations and wants to become a vet, and compete in British Eventing competitions. Molly has been a South Berks Pony Club member since the age of 4 and has made a good start to her eventing career with this win in the toughest class at Hall Place.
The winner of the novice class also had problems getting to Hall Place as she had a puncture on the trailer, leaving Catherine Lochram from Hurst and her lovely chestnut mare Kiki only 10 minutes warm up for the dressage phase. 'Kiki', an imported warmblood, has had previous experience in dressage and show jumping but not cross country. In an attempt to rectify this Catherine rides with the RMA Sandhurst Drag Hunt and had some very exciting days last season, where Kiki could not contain her excitement. Away from the hunting field she is perfectly well behaved as her win proved.
Both the McNickle family and Catherine praised the well organised and enjoyable event which will take place again in July 2010.

Hampshire Horsewatch reminds owners to get their postcode marked on their tack
11th July 2009
It would be great if by the end of the year the majority of horseowners in the county and the Isle of Wight got their tack and other equine property post coded.
Without an identifying feature such as a post code then property cannot be readily identified.
Post coding kit is available throughout the county. You can borrow it from the holder or arrange for a visit from someone to post code tack etc
REMEMBER IF YOUR TACK IS STOLEN AND HAS NO POST CODE OR OTHER IDENTYING MARK THEN THERE IS VERY LITTLE CHANCE OF IT BEING RETURNED TO THE OWNER.
A POSTCODE WILL IDENTIFY AN ADDRESS AND AN OWNER.
IF YOU ARE BUYING TACK WITH A POST CODE ON IT AND THE SELLER IS NOT SOMEONE YOU KNOW ASK YOURSELF A QUESTION - AM I ABOUT TO BUY SOMETHING THAT'S STOLEN?
IF IN DOUBT REMEMBER THE CODE, WHO THE SELLER IS, HIS/HER CAR NUMBER, ADDRESS - CALL THE POLICE, CONTACT HAMPSHIRE HORSEWATCH, EQUINE LIAISON OFFICERS, SO ENQUIRIES CAN BE MADE.
POST CODING MAKES SENSE: IT MAY PREVENT A THEFT, IT MAY HELP RECOVER STOLEN PROPERTY, IT MAY CATCH A THIEF OR HANDLER OF STOLEN PROPERTY
