With 40 acres of land dedicated exclusively to cross country schooling and over 100 fences aimed at providing a suitable standard of test for intro right up to advanced level eventers, this is surely one of the best in the country.
All take-off & landings are dressed, all fences are dressed with flags, and where appropriate, flowers and shrubs. Trainers & riders can request repositioning of portal fences as required (call before arrival).
Designer & resident trainer, Russ Hardy, has spent a lifetime competing and teaching all standards of rider from beginner to 4-Star level.
This show piece cross country course lies within a 40-acre open field where instructors can easily maintain viewing and control of pupils. Both horse and rider can be presented with a wide variety of challenges and combinations to help develop their skills and increase their confidence.
The course is generally available 7 days a week, 12 months a year subject to ground conditions. The layout of the course is regularly changed every 3-4 weeks by re-arranging the location of the portable elements of the course.
Every type of fence or combination you may encounter at a one, two or three day event is available.

Three Maids Chasers
Down Farm, Down Farm Lane, Headbourne Worthy, Winchester, Hampshire, SO22 6RG
After being closed for a number of years we decided that either a complete re-build was necessary or close it for good. As you will gather, we decided to rebuild.
Having decided to rebuild, we engaged the help of course designer and builder Adrian Ditcham (www.dhaes.co.uk). We then set about creating a facility that would satisfy the individual, the instructor wanting to school, and the Riding or Pony club wishing to organise a rally, Hunter trial or ODE.
The schooling area, Dressage and Show Jumping arenas have all been sown to a gallops mix to give an excellent sward after being de-stoned with our American made landscaping tool. All new areas of the Hunter Trial course have been similarly treated.
Jumps are colour coded:
Red for the 90cm Novice Intro Level
Blue for the 75cm Level 2 course
Green for the 60cm Level 1 course
In addition we have some mini cross-country fences of between 30 and 50cms.

Wellington Riding
Heckfield, Hook, Hampshire, RG27 0LJ
Training people and horses since the early 1970s, Wellington Riding is one of the UK's biggest and best-known equestrian centres. Set in 300 acres of the Duke of Wellington's beautiful Hampshire estate, we are a British Horse Society Approved Riding School, Livery Yard and 'Where to Train' Centre to BHSI.
Our established cross country course includes water, ditches, banks and corners as well as some more straight forward fences. It runs across our fields and through our woods to give an interesting and varied course. This year our course has had a make over, and we have added many new fences to our already extensive course.
We offer lessons in cross country jumping throughout most of the year (ground and weather permitting!).
In May and September we run our Hunter Trials with classes ranging from Minimus to Open. Our whole course is left open and is available for hire for 2 weeks after these competitions.
Our Saddle Club and Pony Club hold several cross country events and clinics throughout the year. We also run cross-country rallies for other local pony clubs and clinics for clients both on our horses or on your own.
